Our 5 Favourite Bathroom Design Trends

Depending who you ask, the bathroom is either the first or the second most important room in a home.  It should be a place where you can go to get away and relax — a soothing sanctuary. It’s also where you get ready in the morning and sets the tone for your day. Bathrooms see a lot of use, as such, it’s important that they are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

To that end, we’ve put together a list of our favourite bathroom design trends that you should definitely consider if you’re undertaking a renovation or just looking to spruce up your space!
1. Freestanding Tubs

There’s nothing quite as luxurious as a hot soak at the end of a long day. Freestanding tubs are not only a beautiful feature to add to your bathroom, they are also extremely practical. You see these everywhere now and everybody wants one! A highly coveted bathroom design trend, the freestanding tub earns its place as number one on our list.

2. Brass & Gold Fixtures

Warm toned brass and gold plumbing fixtures are back, and we love it! The perfect complement to cooler gray and white paint colors, brass and gold are a unique finish that will add loads of character to your bathroom space. For a lavish upscale look, opt for a satin finish. If you are going for more of a retro comfy style, choose a matte finish.

3. Clean & Neutral Tones

Timeless and versatile, clean neutral tones such as grays and soft whites will prevent your bathroom from ever looking dated. Perfect for both modern and traditional aesthetics, you can’t go wrong with a dove gray or eggshell white paint colour. Warm up this look with earthy tiles in a green or blue for a truly stunning bathroom!

4. Vintage Tile

Vintage is all the rage right now, especially in bathroom design. Choose a fun geometric pattern in bold colours for your bathroom floor and pair your choice with rose gold fixtures for a retro glam look! There are a ton of options for tile out there ranging from very vintage to modern vintage. If you want to make a statement with your bathroom, this is the way to go.

5. Warm Woods

If you’re looking to create a true sanctuary reminiscent of a Swedish spa, incorporate warm inviting woods into your bathroom space. White washbasins paired with custom wood vanities are a great way to achieve that vaunted sleek Scandinavian look. Contrary to popular belief, wood actually breathes quite well and naturally absorbs moisture making it a great option for a bathroom.
